Vibration Whip

Anti-vibration whips, also known as spiral vibration dampers, are important tools for protecting cables and their fittings. They primarily exert a damping effect on wind-induced vibrations through their vibration-proof parts, consuming or weakening the vibrations generated by the cable running under the influence of laminar wind, thereby protecting the cable and fittings.

Main Uses

Suitable for ADSS cables: Utilizing their vibration-proof parts to exert a damping effect on wind-induced vibrations, they consume and weaken the energy of the cable vibrations, thus protecting the cables.

Suitable for small cross-section conductors: Also suitable for lines with voltages below 132kv and small cross-section conductors with diameters less than 19mm.

Material Characteristics

Anti-vibration whips are mainly made of high-strength, weather-resistant, and highly elastic modified PVC plastic. This material not only ensures the stability of its structure but also extends its service life.

Material Advantages

High elasticity: Effectively absorbs and disperses vibration energy.

Weather resistance: Maintains good performance even after long-term use.

High strength: Can withstand heavy loads without damage.

Flame retardant: Increases safety in use.

Installation Instructions

The correct installation method is crucial for ensuring the effectiveness of anti-vibration whips. Here are two common installation methods:

Series Installation

Install the first anti-vibration whip 500mm from the end of the inner twisted wire, and the second one 120mm from the end of the first one.

Parallel Installation

Stack two anti-vibration whips together and install them 500mm from the end of the twisted wire.

These two methods have basically the same damping effect, and the appropriate method can be chosen based on the actual situation for installation.

Recommendations

Determine the appropriate number of spiral vibration dampers per span based on the size of the span used by the line and the ratio of the cable's average annual operating tension to its ultimate tensile strength.

Configuration Standards

For spans of 100-250m, 2 anti-vibration whips are needed.

For spans of 250-400m, 4 anti-vibration whips are needed.

For spans of 400-800m, 6 anti-vibration whips are needed.

Application Scenarios

Anti-vibration whips are widely used in various fields such as power and communications, especially in situations where it is necessary to protect cables from the effects of wind-induced vibrations.

Common Application Scenarios

Power lines: Protect conductors and their fittings from vibration damage.

Communication lines: Ensure the stable operation of ADSS cables and extend their service life.

Precautions for Purchasing and Installing

When purchasing and installing anti-vibration whips, the following points should be noted to ensure their effectiveness and safety:

Purchasing Precautions

Choose the appropriate model and specifications based on actual needs.

Select a reputable supplier to ensure product quality.

Installation Precautions

Follow the installation instructions to ensure a secure installation.

Regularly check the installation status of the anti-vibration whips, and tighten them if any loosening is found.
